Proper maintenance of your doll’s skin includes powdering and oiling. Here’s how to do it effectively:
Powdering the Doll
Why Powder?
- Powdering helps keep the doll’s skin dry, smooth, and oil-free (since TPE dolls tend to accumulate oil).
When to Powder?
- After each wash and drying session, apply powder to maintain the skin’s texture and prevent stickiness.
Recommended Powders:
- Baby powder or corn starch are great options.
- Test the powder on less important areas like the doll's arms first to ensure it doesn't cause any damage.
Oiling the Doll
Why Oil?
- Oiling can replenish the oil in the doll's skin, especially if it becomes dry. However, do not oil too frequently—only when needed, depending on the doll’s condition.
How to Oil?
- Massage the oil gently into the doll’s skin (think of it as a massage, not a full bath).
- Absorption: Allow the oil to absorb for about 3 hours (or 12 hours for petroleum jelly).
- After 3 hours, most of the oil should be absorbed, but there may be some leftover in areas like hollows.
- Use a microfiber towel to pat dry any excess oil, dirt, or stains. Avoid rubbing, as it can cause micro abrasions.
Optional Second Cleaning
After oiling and drying, you may rinse the doll with lukewarm water to wash away any remaining dirt. However, this will remove some of the oil, and you'll need to repeat the drying process and powdering.
Full Cleaning Process:
- Exterior cleaning & drying
- Oiling & 3-hour absorption
- Powdering
Note: This process is time-consuming, and most users prefer to skip the second rinse and clean.
By following these steps, you can keep your doll in excellent condition for longer.
